On the first weekend of February, the entire large coffee community gathered in the capital of Poland for the eighth edition of the Warsaw Coffee Festival.
There was everything: tastings, championships, conversations, acquaintances, old friends, undiscovered coffees, new flavors and a lot of coffee.
The festival is aimed at the widest audience - from simple coffee lovers who prepare coffee at home, drink it in cafes, to so-called coffee makers who have their own cafes, are engaged in roasting, etc. However, for most people, coffee is not just a drink that helps to wake up, the more coffee is identified with a ritual, the more they try new types of coffee, preparation machines, and coffee brewing techniques.
We also talked with coffee growers - who are not limited to the traditional methods of grinding coffee, but also like the consumer - are experimenting and looking for new, the best coffee. One of them is coffee fermented with coconuts and pineapples. Sugars play a very important role in fermentation, which are broken down and absorbed by green coffee beans with the help of fermentation. The result is extremely sweet, "funky" and unconventional tasting coffee. This non-traditional method of fermentation appeared quite recently, but is being found more and more often.
Also in Poland, we got to know the young generation of roasters who look at coffee through rose-colored glasses. Destroys myths, established rules and brings new ideas and flavors to the coffee world. We believe that this approach will soon take the coffee community to even higher latitudes.
It was an absolute joy to meet so many coffee enthusiasts in one place. The friendliness and camaraderie of the Polish coffee community is surprising. Which just goes to show that coffee is a magical drink that unites and promotes communication.
We say to the Warsaw coffee community. And thanks for the caffeine fix.
See you next time!
